Public Works Commission

Purpose and Function:

  1. Recommend the adoption and alteration of rules, regulations and policies governing the operation and maintenance of the Light, Water, Sewer, and Street Departments.  
  2. Recommend the appropriate level of user fees and other funds to be allocated to the city's budget for the operation and maintenance of the Light, Water, Sewer, and Street Departments.
  3. Conduct hearings on delinquent utility accounts that are subject to disconnection.
  4. Plan and recommend major capital outlays such as: Public Works equipment; electrical substations and distribution lines; treatment plants; the construction of water mains and lines; sewer mains and lines; lift stations; storm sewers; street constructions and reconstructions.

 

Meetings: The Public Works Commission meets every 1st Tuesday at 8 am at the Staples City Hall.
