Public Works Commission
Purpose and Function:
- Recommend the adoption and alteration of rules, regulations and policies governing the operation and maintenance of the Light, Water, Sewer, and Street Departments.
- Recommend the appropriate level of user fees and other funds to be allocated to the city's budget for the operation and maintenance of the Light, Water, Sewer, and Street Departments.
- Conduct hearings on delinquent utility accounts that are subject to disconnection.
- Plan and recommend major capital outlays such as: Public Works equipment; electrical substations and distribution lines; treatment plants; the construction of water mains and lines; sewer mains and lines; lift stations; storm sewers; street constructions and reconstructions.
Meetings: The Public Works Commission meets every 1st Tuesday at 8 am at the Staples City Hall.
