2025 City Clean-Up Day
City Cleanup Day
Friday, May 30th - 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Mark your calendars! The City of Staples is hosting the annual Staples Area Cleanup Day on Friday, May 30th from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the City Street Shop/Wastewater Plant (Michigan Avenue & 12th Street NE).
All township residents surrounding Staples are welcome to utilize this service.
The Staples Area Cleanup Day event is designed to allow City and area residents to easily and affordably dispose of unwanted items such as, building materials, old appliances, garbage, electronics and other “collectibles” right here in Staples.
Crews from Long Prairie Sanitation, SW Recycling and the City will be on hand to assist in unloading vehicles and trailers.
The 2025 disposal fees will be:
- FREE: Appliances (dishwashers, dryers, furnaces, microwaves, water heaters, air conditioners, dehumidifiers, refrigerators, freezers etc.)
- FREE: car batteries, scrap metals
- $0.10 per pound to dispose of refuse and junk
- $25.00 per TV or monitor
- $10.00 per electronic item
- $1.00 Fluorescent tubes
- Passenger car tires: $5/tire
- Passenger car tire with rim: $10/tire
- Mattresses, Box springs and hide-a-bed: $18
- Furniture (couches, chairs, dressers, etc.): $12
- Propane Tanks (20# or larger): $5
Again this year, we will be accepting household hazardous waste (paints, thinners, old bleach, chemicals, etc.) and will transport these items to the Todd County Transfer Station. Please be sure that containers are sealed.
If you have questions, such as if a particular item is able to be disposed of, please call Jerel Nelsen at City Hall 894-2550 to check into this for you ahead of time. Please form the line on 12th street, not Michigan Avenue. We will open the gate at 3:00 p.m.
We encourage everyone to take advantage of this opportunity and thank you for your efforts to help clean up our community.
